Macbooks are overrated, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Macbooks are overrated. The last time I checked, Apple’s computers were more expensive than many Windows alternatives and often come with less storage. And yet, there are many people who swear by their Macs.

I’m a big fan of Apple’s laptops and desktops. But I think it’s important to acknowledge that there are other options out there that might be better for you.

For many people, Windows PCs are a great alternative to Macs. They’re usually cheaper, offer more customization options and can run nearly any software you throw at them — including all the apps in the Mac App Store (which is useful if you’re switching from iOS).

But even if you’re an Apple fanboy or girl who believes that its products are superior to everything else on the market, there are some things about Macs that might make you reconsider buying one:

But even if you’re an Apple fanboy or girl who believes that its products are superior to everything else on the market, there are some things about Macs that might make you reconsider buying one:

1. Apple makes it hard to upgrade your Mac’s storage.

2. The RAM is soldered onto the motherboard, so it’s not upgradeable once you buy the computer.

3. There are no user-serviceable parts on a Macbook Pro — if something breaks, you have to send it back to Apple for repairs.

Are Macs Really Worth It?

Apple MacBooks are great laptops and they are worth it. If you’ve ever used one, I’m sure you know what I mean. There’s a reason why Apple has such a high market share of the PC industry: their products are simply better designed than most other PCs on the market today.

The question you need to ask yourself is whether or not the extra money is worth it for you. If you’re looking for something that’s going to last for years and years, then yes, definitely.

Macs are built to last, that’s for sure. They have a reputation for being more reliable than PCs, and there’s some truth to that.

That said, every technology has its own lifespan. If you’re looking for a computer that will last a decade or more, you can get one from either side of the computer divide — but it’s important to know what to look for when buying a new computer.

The average lifespan of a laptop is about four years, according to Consumer Reports’ 2015 survey of 67,000 readers. Desktop computers last about five years on average. The most popular lifetime was six years for both laptops and desktops.

But there are exceptions: Some people keep their laptops longer than seven years while others replace their desktop every three years or less.

Conclusion

In reality, the Apple brand is worth more than the laptop. If someone asks you if Macbook’s are overrated, tell them no, but I could see how someone who didn’t know much about computers or brands could get confused. Just remember–it’s not the laptop that counts, it’s what’s inside and what you do with it that matters.
