A year has passed since Samsung introduced the Galaxy A71, one of the models that have worked best for those in Seoul. Following the design line of the Note and S series, the company has renewed the design of the terminal adapting it to the new trends of 2021 along with hardware that maintains most of the components. New features are also introduced on the screen and the camera, as we will see below.

New Design With 90 HZ Display And Water And Dust Resistance

With this new generation, Samsung has decided to give the Galaxy A72 a design that is very similar to the Galaxy S21. And it is that, while the diagonal of the original model (6.7 inches) is retained, the phone now has a polycarbonate back cover with a matte finish.

Beyond the visual differences, the manufacturer has introduced the IP67 certification in the mid-range for the first time, which gives it resistance to water and dust with immersions in 1 meter depth for up to 30 minutes. Other differences with respect to the 2020 version are found in the dimensions, since now the phone is heavier, thicker and rougher in general. We are talking about a difference of more than 20 grams in weight and almost 1 centimeter in thickness. The reason is probably due to the watertightness of the chassis due to the IP67 certification and the increase in the physical dimensions of the battery, which we will talk about in later sections.

If we focus on the screen, the phone now has an AMOLED matrix with 90 Hz frequency and Full HD + resolution . Regarding the Galaxy A71, the fingerprint sensor on the screen is maintained, as well as the general silhouette, with a hole in the center that houses the front camera.

Same Hardware As Last year, Despite Everything

That’s how it is. Against all odds, the company has opted for similar hardware, so 5G connectivity is completely discarded in the absence of a specific model with that connection. We are talking about a Snapdragon 720G processor, a model that represents a slight regression with respect to the Snapdragon 730 of the Galaxy A71. It comes along with two versions of 6 and 128 GB of RAM and storage and 8 and 128GB. It should be noted that the storage is expandable through micro SD cards up to 1 TB capacity as it was the previous model.

For the rest, the phone inherits most of the specifications of its predecessor: dual-band WIFI, NFC for mobile payments, Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5 mm jack for headphones… Where we do find an evolution compared to the 2020 model It is in the section of the battery, which now grows to 5,000 mAh. Of course, the charging capacity remains: 25 W. Unfortunately, we still do not have wireless charging or reversible wireless charging. It is worth saying that the phone comes with Android 11 under the latest version of Samsung One UI, 3.1.

A Photography Section That Dresses High End

Samsung has sacrificed the news inside the Samsung Galaxy A72 to focus on the photographic section. And it is that although the 64 megapixel sensor of the previous generation is maintained, the company has now equipped it with optical stabilization , with the improvements in photography and video that this entails, video recording that is maintained in 4K resolution at 30 FPS due to processor limitations.

Another novelty from the South Korean manufacturer comes with an 8 megapixel telephoto sensor, being the first mid-range model in the industry to launch a sensor with such characteristics. With a focal aperture f / 2.4, the sensor offers up to three optical magnifications , that is, the same amount as the Samsung Galaxy S21, although we are not facing the same sensor.

As for the rest of the sensors, we find two 12 and 5 megapixel cameras with wide and macro lenses . In this regard, the specifications of the Galaxy A71 are maintained, although the camera intended for Portrait mode is discarded. The front camera is also maintained, which in this case is 32 megapixels and f / 2.2 focal aperture.

Price and Availability Samsung Galaxy A72

Samsung has not yet confirmed the availability date or the price of the Samsung Galaxy A72. However, the latest leaks ensure that the price of the phone will be around $480 , which could mean a brief increase compared to the starting price of last year, which we remember, was approximately 470 euros.

It remains to be seen how the value of the device is extrapolated to Europe and different countries. In any case, we will update the article with all the information in this regard as soon as it is available.
